Mr. Kleinbaum's practice is concentrated in representing labor unions in the private and public sectors, and in employment litigation. He provides advice and counsel to labor unions on a wide range of issues, including compliance with the National Labor Relations Act, the American with Disabilities Act, Title VII, Family & Medical Leave Act, ERISA, federal and state wage and hour laws, and wrongful termination. He represents labor unions throughout the State in contract negotiations, grievance, and interest arbitration, as well as trial and appellate litigation before the Federal and State courts, NLRB, PERC, Merit System Board and other agencies.
Mr. Kleinbaum is the former Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is also a fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He is counsel in dozens of published and unpublished court opinions in both state and federal courts. He is a frequent speaker on developments in labor and employment law at conferences, seminars and professional meetings involving issues of concern to unions and employees in the private and public sectors. Mr. Kleinbaum has been named a New Jersey Super Lawyer in labor and employment law.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Kleinbaum worked for Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO and for the United Paperworkers International Union, AFL-CIO. He served as the first President of UPIU Local 1531 after a successfully organizing campaign at a national box manufacturer.
